Our vision
Open data is key to efficient & sustainable transport systems for everyone.
Why Mobility and Data must work together
Adapting urban mobility to the environmental and societal changes of the 21st century remains one of the key challenges for urban policy makers worldwide. This can only succeed if evidence-based and well-considered decisions are made based on the best possible information. Data collection and analysis are key for sustainable transport planning and play an important role in various areas of the transport system.
Mobility data and digital technologies can provide crucial insights into transportation patterns, infrastructure needs, and user behavior, which can help decision-makers develop evidence-based policies and plans that address the challenges of urban mobility in the 21st century.
By leveraging mobility data and digital tools, cities can optimize their transportation systems, reduce emissions, improve air quality, and enhance accessibility for all users. For example, data-driven mobility solutions can help identify underserved areas, optimize public transport routes, and promote the use of alternative modes of transportation such as cycling and walking. Moreover, the rapid development of digital technologies offers exciting opportunities for innovation in the mobility sector, such as the integration of shared mobility solutions.
Access to open data in urban mobility plays a crucial role in advancing efficient and sustainable mobility systems that benefit all individuals.
Why Open Data Matters
Open data is essential for this project because it allows for transparent and collaborative decision-making processes in sustainable urban mobility. By making data openly available to the public, policymakers, researchers, and citizens can work together to identify challenges, propose solutions, and track progress towards sustainability goals. Open data also promotes innovation by enabling developers to create new applications and services that leverage mobility data to improve the user experience and contribute to the overall sustainability of urban transportation systems. Furthermore, open data can help increase public trust in transportation systems by providing citizens with accurate and up-to-date information on transportation services and performance metrics. Ultimately, the availability of open data in sustainable urban mobility is key to driving progress towards more efficient, equitable, and sustainable transportation systems that benefit everyone.
Benefits for City Governments
Open mobility data can facilitate collaboration between city departments, breaking down silos and leading to the better coordination and integration of transportation policies and programs. City governments can make informed decisions and track progress towards mobility goals, ensuring that transportation policies and programs align with the needs and priorities of citizens.
Our goal
The TUMI Mobility Data Hub is designed to simplify access to open data for informed decision-making in mobility and transportation planning. Our platform is based on the widely-used open-source software CKAN, which offers a powerful and flexible solution for managing and sharing data.
We understand that setting up a data hub can be a daunting task for many cities, which is why our solution offers a simplified technical setup. This reduces the barriers to entry and makes it easier for cities to utilize open data to develop evidence-based policies and plans for sustainable urban mobility.
At our core, we believe that open data is key to driving progress towards more efficient, equitable, and sustainable transportation systems that benefit everyone. That’s why we’re committed to making it easier for cities to access and utilize open data, and to supporting informed decision-making in urban mobility and transportation planning.
